Application Information for Incoming Freshmen

Cabarrus County is home to the Cabarrus Kannapolis Early College. Cabarrus County is also home to two other early colleges, Cabarrus Tech and The Cabarrus Health Science Institute. Interested applicants will need to be sure to designate their preferred early college site on the application form. Applications are accepted during the Program Choice application period that generally ends in late October. All early colleges will then conduct interviews in January, and notify applicants of decisions in early February. 

Eligibility: 

• Must be a resident of Cabarrus County and includes those living in the Kannapolis City Schools District.
• Must apply during Program Choice window in 8th grade year.  (For students currently enrolled in a Cabarrus County or Kannapolis City high school that want to take community college classes, they should contact their school counselors and ask about the Career and College Promise Program.)

Process:

• Application - Students will complete the application online from the Cabarrus County Schools - School Choice website - https://ccsprogramchoice.scriborder.com/ 
   
• Teacher Recommendations. Each student must have at least one teacher recommendation completed. Students are encouraged to request up to three recommendations as they help us build a better picture of how the student might fit into our school. 7th grade teacher recommendations are welcome, but any current or previous teacher will do.
   
• Interviews - As part of the application process, both the students and parents must participate in an interview.  Applicants will be contacted to schedule the interviews.
   
• Notification -  After all interviews are completed, all applicants are notified by mail as to the status of their application.
